At RMS we value the importance of the wider community and understand that we can contribute in many ways to the lives of those around us.
The Community Arts Project was established in 2008 to bring RMS performances to the local community.
The team was originally made up of our Sixth Form girls, boys from local schools and some members of staff, but now includes girls from Year 9 and above. It also counts amongst its number some unfailingly committed members of staff, namely Mr Broome, My Hyde, Mr Snow and Mr Young, all of whom are now able to sing and dance (at the same time!).
So what do Community Arts do? We have put on numerous shows with themes such as Old Time Music Hall, Songs of Stage and Screen, and Merrie England. We have taken shows to many different venues over the years, from The Royal Hospital in Chelsea, where we perform for the Chelsea Pensioners to the Parish Church in Rickmansworth. We also host annual tea parties for those living in local residential homes or from day centres; they are always very rewarding afternoons and the girls love serving tea and chatting to their guests.
We are also regulars at the Rickmansworth Canal Festival, an annual local community event now in its 22nd year.
